50 Years of The Silver Fox Williams Twins, from childhood at age 10 to age 60.

Welcome to the renewal of the Silver Fox Williams Twins blog, where we share the adventures, insights, and brotherhood of Silver Fox Twins Roy Lee Williams in Birmingham, Alabama, and Troy Lee Williams' European exploits in the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany. We’re identical twin brothers with long silver-white beards, a shared history spanning six decades, and a bond that continues to grow stronger across continents.

There’s something truly captivating about identical twins. We shared more than just DNA; we have a connection shaped by memory, resilience, laughter, and love. For us, that bond has been tested, strengthened, and ultimately defined not just by the good times, but by how we’ve carried each other through life’s most difficult moments, including the loss of our hero brother Army Major Dwayne Williams almost 25 years ago in the terrorist attack on the Pentagon, the death of our father Horace Williams in 2013, and our beloved mother Pearl Williams' five-year battle with Alzheimer's (Mom is still with us at age 84, but her memory is fading fast. Roy and Troy copy by always choosing to hold tight to the memories that matter most.

As one half of this duo, I Roy can tell you our story is far more than the joy of being identical twins. We embrace life fully with wisdom, humor, and a deep appreciation for the people and moments that shape us.

Let me take you inside our world.

The Unique Dynamics of Our Twin Brotherhood

Being a twin is a fascinating blend of friendship, family, and sometimes rivalry, all wrapped into one lifelong connection.

Troy and I have built our bond over 61 years shared experiences, from childhood adventures to navigating adulthood on different continents. What makes our connection even more unique is that we are mirror twins.

I’m left-handed; Troy is right-handed. I have a mole on my left hand; he doesn’t. These mirrored traits remind us daily that while we are deeply connected, we are also uniquely individual.

Even after years apart, the similarities remain striking. We speak with the same deep tones and quick cadence. We walk at the same pace. Our mannerisms mirror each other—even across an ocean.

And often, we don’t need words at all.

A Lifetime of Brotherhood

From our younger days filled with laughter and mischief to the men we are today, our journey has always been side by side—even when life placed miles between us.

Staying Connected Across the Miles

Life took us in different directions — Roy to Birmingham, Ala. as a journalist, Troy to Europe in the United States Air Force — but distance has never weakened our bond.

Through Messenger, WhatsApp, and countless calls, we stay connected—sharing laughs, life updates, and debates that only twins can have.

In 2024, I celebrated my 60th birthday with Troy and his family in Europe—our first reunion in 11 years. The last time before that was in 2013, when Troy came home for our father’s funeral.

Then in March 2025, he visited Birmingham—and just like that, it felt like no time had passed.

Life Lessons from Our Twin Journey

Our journey isn’t just a story—it’s a blueprint for connection, resilience, and joy:

Embrace Change Together

Life shifts—but having someone who truly knows you makes all the difference.

Celebrate Differences

Even identical twins are not identical in every way. Growth comes from honoring individuality.

Keep the Humor Alive

Laughter has carried us through some of life’s heaviest moments. Just as importantly, our fond memories have been the backbone of our strength.

After enduring the tragic loss of our oldest brother—who was killed in the September 11 attacks on the Pentagon—Troy and I made a conscious choice. We chose not to live in the shadow of that loss, but to celebrate the life of the brother we idolized.

He was our hero growing up—an accomplished football wide receiver, a skilled basketball guard, and a home run hitter on the Eastwood neighborhood softball team in our hometown of Jacksonville. His legacy continues to inspire us, reminding us to live fully and love deeply.

Stay Curious

New experiences keep life vibrant and relationships fresh.

Honor Love and Family

Family is our foundation. My wife Patrice and I will celebrate 35 years of marriage in September 2026, while Troy and his wife Hilde recently celebrated 31 years together.

We are equally proud of our children. Patrice and I are blessed with our daughter, Dr. Naja Williams, 26, a veterinarian, and our son, Royce, 24, who works part time with Roy at the Birmingham Public Library and is a senior at University of Alabama- Birmingham. Troy and Hilde have a wonderful son, Thomas, who just turned 30. Our families are our greatest joy and purpose.

The Rarity of Mirror Twins

Mirror twins—like us—are among the rarest types of twins, occurring when a fertilized egg splits later than usual. It’s a fascinating reminder that even when two people share the same origin, individuality still shines through.

Travel: Strengthening Our Bond

Travel has been one of the greatest gifts in our journey, Troy joining his family in exploring Europe while Roy travels globally with his family.

From an unforgettable trip by Patrice and Roy to Egypt visiting our brother Major Dwayne Williams in 1997, to our 2024 European identical twin reunion spanning the Netherlands, Germany, and Belgium, these shared experiences have deepened our bond in ways words cannot fully capture.

Travel allows us to see the world through both shared and individual perspectives, making every journey richer.

Building a Community Through Twin Perspectives

Through Twin Perspectives Today, we share our journey to inspire connection, conversation, and community.

What we’ve learned:

  • Be authentic

  • Stay engaged

  • Offer value

  • Embrace your uniqueness

  • Invite others into the story

Embracing the Silver Fox Spirit

The “silver fox” spirit is about confidence, wisdom, and living life fully at every stage.

As we approach 62 this November, we don’t see age as a limit; we see it as fuel.

Fuel for adventure. Fuel for deeper relationships. Fuel for purpose.

Final Thoughts

At the heart of everything we’ve shared - our laughter, our travels, our families, and even our losses — is one powerful truth:

Memories matter.

They carry us through hardship. They connect us across distance. They remind us of who we are and who we’re becoming.

Our story is one of brotherhood, resilience, and joy. And through it all, we’ve learned this:

Life isn’t just about what you go through, it’s about how you react to trials and tribulations, and what you choose to hold onto.

For us, that will always be love, laughter, and the memories that make us special as the Silver Fox Williams twins.

Stay tuned for more monthly adventures of the Silver Fox Williams twins the latter half of 2026
